Description
An advanced programme for practitioners covering all aspects of energy law, offered by the Universities of:
• Groningen (the Netherlands);
• Oslo (Norway);
• Aberdeen (United Kingdom); and
• Copenhagen (Denmark).
Energy law is a diverse and dynamic field. It involves multiple powerful actors on a constantly evolving stage characterised by ever more complex problems and relationships. The North Sea Energy Law Programme is designed to equip lawyers to operate in this demanding environment.
Drawing on the expertise of the leading academics in centres of excellence located in the region that has seen perhaps the highest degree of innovation in energy law, it offers participants both the fundamental knowledge and the conceptual tools to deal with whatever challenges this exciting area of practice raises.
This unique programme is structured to accommodate the busy professional through concentrated periods of teaching. Each of the four courses is taught in a different centre in an intensive two-week block. The language of instruction is English.
The two year programme starts September 2009 and lasts untill June 2011.
The programme consists of the following interrelated components, each with a broad, international and comparative perspective, drawing on the teaching expertise of all four universities and external experts:
• Electricity and Gas: Liberalising and Regulating the Market - University of Groningen;
• Oil and Gas: Exploration and Production - University of Oslo;
• Securing Energy Supply: Operations, Investment and Trade - University of Aberdeen; and
• Green Energy, Climate and Sustainable development - University of Copenhagen.
